The Blackdown Hills War Memorial Project

We have received news of another First World War project taking place in Somerset.

The Blackdown Hills War Memorial Project aims to catalogue all war memorials inside the Blackdown Hills AONB, to create a searchable database for the use of anyone, anywhere.

It is hoped that people with a connection to the area, past or present, can browse the records to find a specific person or memorial along with its location.

The project is run by Andrew Read and Steven Trick for the Hemyock History and Archiving Association, and will run until the end of July 2013.

Andy and Steve have already collected information and photographs of over 40 memorials in the area, but are keen to hear of any hidden gems.
