The team is busy installing the Somerset Remembers exhibition at the Museum of Somerset this week.
‘Somerset Remembers the First World War’ opens on Saturday 26 July and includes sections on the outbreak of war, local efforts to support troops at the front, wartime agriculture, the county regiments and the legacy of the war. It also features artwork by Somerset artist Jon England.
The team are busy installing large graphics, painting and decorating, creating frames for photographs and documents, and putting the finishing touches to costumes.
So much work and effort has gone into curating the exhibition, from selecting objects and deciding on themes, to drafting text and printing graphics. We have also put a lot of thought into the interpretation of the gallery to ensure visitors get the most out of their experience.
The exhibition is a culmination of work from the last two years so we’re all very excited about the opening. We have a few surprises in store as well so make sure you visit us when we’re open!
The exhibition is on display at the Museum of Somerset from 26 July to 3 January 2015. The museum is open from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm (last entry 4.30 pm) Tuesday to Saturday, and Bank Holiday Mondays. Entry to the museum and the exhibition is free.
