Newly Published in Glastonbury: Stories of the town in the First World War

Following a successful Heritage Lottery Fund bid for funding in 2013, Glastonbury Town Council administered the funds for the Glastonbury WW1 Tribute Project.  

Through volunteer research, and the support of county and neighbourhood community groups, this commemorative project includes a travelling exhibition and the publication of a book, titled ‘Glastonbury’s Other Legacy’.

The book consists of seven informative chapters about many aspects of life in Glastonbury town during the First World War. The first half of the book focuses on soldiers from the town with later chapters including  the role of the Town Council, everyday life of residents, the rural community and Belgian refugees.
