  1. Walter Rowley Thomas, second row down, second from right. A cornet player, came from Glendare Street in Barton Hill, Bristol. A Spelterman working at Lysaghts in Bristol. Joined the SLI in 1914 because he was being teased by some girls in his street.

    Died 16th September 1916, Somme battlefield. His body was never found.
